The residential care facilities are housed in well built, ventilated and spacious cottages that have extend spacious verandahs. The premises of Cheshire Home including the cottages and facilities like the washrooms, in-house dispensary, kitchen etc. are accessible by persons with disabilities.

Children with Disabilities a vast majority of whom are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are provided physiotherapy and occupational therapy by qualified professionals at our well equipped centre at our Andheri premises, on an OPD basis. Children under our Day Care Centre at Andheri being prepared for Inclusive Education too receive therapy interventions.
Therapy and educational interventions are also imparted through our outreach centres within the slum communities established to address financial and accessibility challenges of parents and families of children with disabilities residing in distant suburbs.
Cheshire Home’s Sustainable Livelihood Programme is carried out at the Skills Training Centre and a well equipped computer lab at its premises. Our services are provided free of cost to all the beneficiaries.

The children benefit from safe, lush green environs, indoor as well as large outdoor recreational facility and a sensory garden at the premises. Children avail Cheshire Home’s transportation services to reach the centre and back to their homes in the surrounding low income areas of Andheri East. The services are provided free of cost.
A sensory garden is a facility that provides for an environment that is sensory stimulating; giving children with disabilities a combined sensory opportunity in an environment that is safe and promotes learning and development; both physical and intellectual.

Solar Power System: A 30 KW On-Grid Rooftop Solar Power System, funded by Australian Aid’s DAP was commissioned in June 2018, resulting in reduced dependency on conventional energy, source, reduced carbon footprint and reduction electricity expenditure of Cheshire Home.
Organic Vegetable Garden & Composting Facility: Organic vegetable garden was developed in collaboration with Rasta Chaap a social initiative of women volunteers of Mumbai who are environment enthusiasts and nature lovers working to conserve the urban green cover of Mumbai city. A variety of seasonal vegetables and fruits are being grown in innovative ways to showcase a replicable urban farming model characterized by optimal use of space, use of manure generated in the in-house composting of dry and wet waste, use of low/no cost material and minimal water-irrigation techniques. The modest output marginally compliments, much larger vegetable requirement of our kitchen which caters to the residential care beneficiaries.
This initiatives aims to provide the mothers of children with disabilities receiving intervention under our programme, an opportunity to acquire skills so that they could engage in income generation activities at their own homes. The training is provided to them in making jute and cloth bags and such other handicrafts.
The centre was renovated, equipped with better illumination, automatic and computerized sewing machines, storage space and a new display area for the products.
